Large Scale Interactive Process (LSIP) is a methodology to achieve pre-defined objectives involving large number of participants. It is the most effective methodology for creating accelerated change and for enhancing employee engagement. In any LSIP, all people concerned / impacted with the change are gathered in the same place at the same time, and provided the same input, have the same level of opportunity to participate and contribute. In this process everyone involved knows everything that happens during that time and this decision making process and undiluted understanding of the decisions becomes most critical in the success of any change. The approach is based on “DVF Model of Change” D x V x F > R
D – Dissatisfaction with the present situation
V – Vision- Positive picture of what is possible in the future F – First Step Changes people can take toward reaching the vision R – Resistance to change |
Thus, according to this model, for any successful change to take place, the product of D, V and F must be greater than the resistance to change R.
The ‘Dissatisfaction’ with the present situation is generated through:
· Understanding the environment in relation to strengths. Weaknesses, threats.
· Various stakeholders addressing the large group, on their areas of dissatisfaction · Internal customers sharing their dissatisfaction |
The ‘Vision’ is evolved through:
· Sharing of vision by leadership
· Perspective building through listening from and about successful organizations · Boundaryless feel – thinking by participants culminating into a shared vision |
‘First Step Action Plan’ leads to:
· Individuals taking accountability to cause changes at the workplace
· Department / Team / Group specific action plans · System-wide specific action plans |
Before conducting LSIP, in-depth discussions with the leadership team are held to identify the outcomes envisaged by the LSIP. Based on the outcome, the organizer then sets about designing the event, creating unique tools for use and logistics during the LSIP. Dr. RS Dabas has used LSIP in many organizations with great results by Aligning the teams to Changes/Values/Ownership or facilitating Transformations.
